Custom Cable Buying Guide

LENGTHS:

Coil Length: The coil length is the length of the coils measured from one side to the other. This length only measures the coils, and not the entire cable end they sit in.

Host Length: The host length is measured from the detachable to the host side connector.

NOTE: If you order a cable with no detachable, the host length is measured from the end of the coils to the host side connector.

NOTE: If you order a cable with coils on the host side, the host length is  measured from the end of the coils to the host side connector.

DETACHABLE CONNECTORS:

Detachable Connector: The main purpose of a detachable connector is that they allow you to quickly switch between keyboards that require different device connectors without having to plug in an entire new cable. Many people enjoy the look of a detachable connector and opt to have one on their cable purely for aesthetic purposes.

We currently only offer GX16 aviators as detachable connectors but will soon offer GX12, YC8 and LEMO detachables.

CABLE COLORING:

Paracord: Paracord is the first layer sleeved onto our custom cables. The color paracord you pick when customizing your cable will serve as the base color for your cable.

Techflex: Techflex is the outermost layer on our custom cables and is sleeved on top of the paracord. Techflex is a woven sleeving, and gets slightly expanded once it is placed over the paracord. This makes a cool combination between the paracord and Techflex colors leading to endless cable color options.

Heatshrink: Heatshrink is a tubing that is placed over the USB connectors on your cable. It is also placed on the area of the cable where it begins to enter the detachable housing (Only on GX16).

USB CONNECTORS:

Device Connector: The device connector is the one that goes into your keyboard. The most popular device connectors are USB C, MINI USB, and MICRO USB.

Host Connector: The host connector goes into your computer. The most popular host connector is USB A, but we offer USB C host connectors as well (USB C is typically only used for Macs).
